Framestore Making of VFX for Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire

“Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire” represents the second creative venture uniting Framestore VFX Supervisor Bob Winter, Production VFX Supervisor Marcus Taormina, and filmmaker Zack Snyder. This collaboration highlights Framestore’s significant contribution and ongoing partnership, which Zack Snyder praises highly: “Working with Framestore is an extraordinary experience that brings together the creativity and talent of remarkable individuals. Their commitment to pushing the boundaries of quality and innovation surpasses our wildest expectations.”

As the primary visual effects (VFX) contributor for “Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire,” our team successfully executed more than 580 intricate visual effects shots. Our dedicated personnel in Montreal, Vancouver, and Mumbai brought to life a plethora of cosmic settings, exotic alien beings, numerous digital doubles, spacecraft, and action sequences laden with special effects. The project demanded the development of several hundred specialized tools and the refinement of the USD (Universal Scene Description) framework to perfectly complement Snyder’s distinctive approach to storytelling.
